TRAUMA NEUROSURGERY
INPATIENT TRAUMA NEUROSURGERY
As part of the trauma activation, our neurosurgeon will attend to patients presenting with head injury and spinal trauma. Cranial trauma surgery includes removal of traumatic intracranial hemorrhages and repair of skull fractures.
Surgery is offered for unstable fractures or spinal cord compromise. Our surgeon performs surgical reduction and internal fixation of fractures at any level of the spinal column.
Mild to moderate injuries that do not require any surgery will be managed conservatively. Outpatient followup is offered to ensure optimal recovery.
OUTPATIENT TRAUMA NEUROSURGERY
We accept new patient referrals for evaluation of traumatic injuries of the brain, spine or nerves. Ask your family doctor if you need to see a neurotrauma specialist.
CONCUSSION CLINIC
In close cooperation with athletic trainers and employers, we care for athletes and individuals that may be at risk for job related brain trauma.
Our athletic neuro-prevention program includes pre- and post-seasonal neurocognitive testing. In case of injury, our neurosurgeon will be available to evaluate and assist in care coordination.
ONCOLOGICAL NEUROSURGERY
INPATIENT ONCOLOGICAL NEUROSURGERY
At the request of an oncologist, we consult on patients with tumors or cancers involving the nervous system.
We perform stereotactic biopsies to establish an accurate tissue diagnosis.
Depending on the nature of the growth, we perform surgery to remove it.
For smaller tumors, stereotactic radiosurgery may be an option. Radiosurgery planning is closely coordinated between the radiation oncologist, our neurosurgeon, and the radiation physicist.
OUTPATIENT ONCOLOGICAL NEUROSURGERY
We accept patient referrals for evaluation and surgery of cancers and non-cancerous tumors of the brain, spine and nerves.
Our surgeon has expertise in stereotactic biopsy and surgical removal of brain tumors, nerve sheath tumors, spinal cord tumors, peripheral nerve tumors and metastatic cancer to the head and spinal column.
VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY
INPATIENT VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY
Our surgeon is fellowship trained in vascular and endovascular neurosurgery (Interventional Neuroradiology).
He participates in the care of strokes, aneurysms and vascular malformations of the nervous system.
OUTPATIENT VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY
We accept patient referrals for evaluation and surgery of neurovascular conditions. These include arteriovenous malformations of the brain and spine, cerebral aneurysms, vasculitis, vascular tumors, and stroke prevention.
STROKE PREVENTION CLINIC
Stroke prevention is straight-forward. Your cardiologist and family doctor may already be working on optimizing your risk factors including cholesterol and diabetes and activity levels.
We provide additional information regarding blood flow, congenital anatomical conditions, structural lesions that may provide a bleeding source or restrict flow.
We will assess the specific state of health of each of the arteries supplying blood to your brain.
Workup includes blood chemistry tests, ultrasound including dynamic blood flow testing, and angiographic imaging.
Based on your specific situation, we will create an individualized plan for minimizing stroke risks.
SPINAL NEUROSURGERY
INPATIENT SPINAL NEUROSURGERY
At the request of an admitting physician, our neurosurgeon consults on spinal conditions including spinal stenosis, intervertebral disc herniations “slipped discs”, spinal deformity, and complex traumatic fractures of the spinal column.
OUTPATIENT SPINAL NEUROSURGERY
We accept patient referrals for evaluation and surgery of structural spine conditions including cancer to the vertebral column, spinal cord tumors, spinal deformity and acute spinal conditions such as fractures and spinal disc herniations.
We also help manage chronic spinal conditions associated with aging, such as osteoporotic compression fractures and degenerative conditions of the spinal column.
SPINAL MOBILITY SOLUTIONS
Our surgeon employs the latest technologies to avoid spinal fusion whenever possible, to optimize outcomes and to maintain spinal mobility.
Our surgeon is an early adopter of lumbar and cervical spinal disc replacement.
We accept patient referrals for evaluation and expert precision spinal disc replacement surgery.
Ask us about our expertise in minimally invasive spinal decompression and stabilization, and mobility preserving disc replacement.
GENERAL NEUROSURGERY
INPATIENT GENERAL NEUROSURGERY
Inpatient consultations to neurosurgery include stroke, aneurysms, degenerative nerve compression, infections of the brain and spine, neurodevelopmental conditions and hydrocephalus.
OUTPATIENT GENERAL NEUROSURGERY
We accept patient referrals for evaluation and surgery for structural neurological conditions. These include peripheral nerve compressions such as carpal tunnel, developmental conditions manifesting later in life including Chiari malformation, and neurodegenerative and functional conditions including hydrocephalus.
